InterContinental needs no introduction. It’s one of the icons that define what a luxury hotel means to us today; its properties woven into the pages of history and public mind, a backdrop to many a momentous occasion, meeting and celebration.

Founded in 1946 by international travel pioneer Juan Trippe, InterContinental Hotels was created at a time when air travel was transforming global exploration. Inspired by the elegance and efficiency of Pan American Clipper “flying boats,” Trippe recognized a growing need for luxury accommodations as postwar trade and tourism flourished. His vision was simple yet groundbreaking: to offer modern comfort infused with authentic local character - an idea that defined InterContinental Hotels from the start.

The brand’s rise to the iconic status was fast and unapologetic. The first property opened in Belém, Brazil in 1949. By the time InterContinental in Riyadh opened in 1975, its popularity was such that Forbes Magazine described it as ‘the most difficult hotel to get a room’ in the world. Its history in Thailand predates that - Siam InterContinental Bangkok opened in 1965. Today they have 8 locations in the Kingdom: Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Phuket, Khao Yai and Chiang Mai.

InterContinental already has one residence project in Thailand - in Hua Hin; one more - The Residences at InterContinental Phuket Resort - had just been announced mere weeks before InterContinental Residences Bangkok Asoke. But the latter is the brand’s first foray into urban living in the kingdom.

The residences

The project offers a decidedly urbane interpretation of the iconic InterContinental brand with world-class facilities, impeccable privacy and exclusivity and unparalleled access to Bangkok’s dining, shopping and entertainment scene. A single 32-storey tower includes only 88 units - not over 4 residences per floor (each - a corner unit).

The building’s architecture (work of A49 practice) evokes a timeless, elegant design, fit for a brand’s storied history, yet firmly rooted in the local setting. Conversely - or, perhaps, appropriately - the tech, materials and facilities are very much future-ready, including precooled precooled fresh air ventilation system with hospital-grade MERV-13 filter, 20 EV-charging spots and hardware from the world-leading brands.

However, InterContinental Residences Bangkok Asoke goes beyond ‘simply’ meeting the standards of ultraluxury. InterContinental Hotels Group will provide a Residential Director who will oversee the operations of residences to ensure that the tenants get a true InterContinental Experience, with an array of services that will make certain that everything they might need at their fingertips. The owners will also be entitled to Diamond Elite status membership for InterContinental and all IHG hotels (Six Senses, Regent, Indigo, Kimpton, Holiday Inn and more).

The project is available on freehold basis and had already obtained EIA approval prior to official reveal.

InterContinental Residences Bangkok Asoke is located on soi Sukhumvit 16, less than 400 m from Asoke intersection and BTS Asok.

Asoke is one of the most ‘central’ areas in Bangkok. It sits on the intersection of Sukhumvit and Asok Montri roads, and importantly BTS Sukhumvit line and MRT Blue line - 2 of the most important transit arteries of the city. This strategic ease of access allowed Asoke to develop into one of central business and commercial districts. On another hand, the convenience of transportation made it a very popular nightlife destination for foreigners. Over time it developed into one of the prime residential areas of Bangkok, popular with European and Japanese expats and affluent Thai locals.

The convenience of access offers exceptional access to Bangkok’s CBD, international schools, embassies, and luxury retail hubs.

Just across the Asoke intersection is Terminal 21 - one of Bangkok’s most popular shopping malls, with each of six floors creatively decorated after a different world city. Apart from that, Phrom Phong with it’s luxury EmDistrict malls - Emporium, EmQuartier and the new EmSphere - is within walking distance (EmSphere is ~900 m away).

An important recent development in the areas is the extension of Benchakitti park (which is located just 500 m from the InterContinental Bangkok Asoke). While a long-popular public park, it’d undergone a massive expansion that completed in 2022, increasing the park grounds from 51 to 71 acres, making it larger than the nearby Lumphin park (and by extension the largest park in the central Bangkok). The extension incorporated a forest park and added a number of facilities: elevated walkways, wetlands, rare plant areas, cycle paths and an outdoor amphitheatre. Another notable addition is a 1.3 km-long green elevated pedestrian and bicycle trail to Lumphini park.
